Body piercing has a history that is approximately five thousand years old. In a time when cultures were distinct and worlds apart, the practice of piercing existed throughout. From the ancient Egyptions to the nomadic tribes of the Arctic, each culture had a piercing history that we have adopted into our own mixed culture today. Here you will find a brief history of various piercing practices which by no means is a complete historical account of the art.
